The Millennium City today woke up to a horrific incident as the body of an elderly woman was found at his house in Odisha’s Cuttack with limbs tied.
As per preliminary investigation, miscreants broke into the woman’s house at Bhagatpur under Puri Ghat police station limits here late last night. The criminals attacked the woman while she resisted the robbery bid.
The deceased identified as Haramani Sahu (65) was found dead this morning at his residence with limbs tied.
“At around 5 am when I came downstairs, I found my mother’s limbs tied and door open. The almirah has been broken and valuables looted, two bikes are missing” daughter of the deceased said.
While police are investigating into the case, the son of the deceased has levelled serious allegation of involvement of insiders in the killing. He has pointed fingers at his sister and brother-in-law who are staying at the same house on the first floor.
“My wife found early this morning that utensils were all over, the almirah was broken and other things scattered. The miscreants had tied her limbs, shoved a piece of cloth into her mouth and hit on her head. My bike and my nephew’s bike are missing,” son-in-law of the deceased said.
“Unknown culprits have broken into the house last night. The miscreants had tied her limbs and shoved a cloth into her mouth after which probably she died. We are investigating into the matter,” an investigating officer said.
Meanwhile, scientific team and dog squad have been called in to aid in the investigation, sources said.
