Elderly woman hacked to death over sorcery suspicion in Odisha

Malkangiri: In a bizarre incident, an elderly woman was hacked to death suspecting her to be involved in sorcery in Tumasapalli village under Malkangiri district last night. The deceased was identified as Muka Madkami (55).

Son of one Rama Sodi from Tumasapalli village died of some unknown reasons six years back. But Rama suspected Muka’s involvement in witchcraft causing his son’s death. When Rama fell ill during past few days, he again suspected Muka doing sorcery to cause his illness.

Villagers said Rama thought Muka was planning to eliminate his family with the help of blackmagic.

Yesterday night when Muka was fast asleep in her house, Rama reached there and hacked her to death with a sickle.

After receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem. Based on preliminary investigation, police arrested Rama for killing the elderly woman.
