Bhubaneswar: An elderly woman was killed and five others were injured in stray bull attack at Jeypore town in Odisha’s Koraput district.
The deceased has been identified as P. Rabanamma (78) of Paninalasahi.
A stray bull had attacked Rabanamma while she was on her way to a nearby market yesterday. She sustained critical injuries in the bull attack and was rushed to the Koraput district headquarters hospital (DHH), sources said.
The elderly woman was later shifted to a private hospital at Jeypore after her condition deteriorated. She died while being treated at the hospital, sources added.
At least five other residents of Paninalasahi and Kelasahi sustained critical injuries when the bull attacked them yesterday.
On being informed, the civic authorities of the town along with Fire Brigade and Animal Resources Development department today launched an operation to relocate the stray bull to a nearby cow shelter.
“The bull was first tranquilized and then shifted to the cow shelter,” said an official.
