Deogarh: An elderly woman was found trampled to death by an elephant in a forest in Odisha's Deogarh district today.
The deceased woman has been identified as Jasmine Kujur (60), a resident of Phatatangar village under Deogarh forest range.
According to reports, the 60-year-old woman had been to her farmland yesterday. As she did not return to home, her family members searched her everywhere but did not find her whereabouts.
The villagers found Kujur's body near a forest this morning and informed the forest department.
The locals suspected that the elderly woman might have fallen prey to an elephant in the forest.
On receiving information, Deogarh Ranger Debadutta Nanda, Deogarh Forester Bhimsen Satapathy and other forest officials reached the site and initiated investigation.
