Elderly woman who fell into borewell in Odisha’s Sonepur rescued

Sonepur: An 80-year-old woman who had fallen into a 20-feet deep abandoned borewell near Kainphula village under Sadar block of Odisha’s Sonepur district was rescued by Fire Services personnel, today.

“We have rescued the woman successfully. Her pulse rate was low. She has been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment,” a Fire Services officer said.

The survivor, identified as Dukhi Negi, fell into the borewell on Monday evening. On being informed about the mishap, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and initiated a rescue operation.

Oxygen was supplied to the woman through the opening of the borewell. The district administration had provided an excavator, using which the Fire Services personnel dug the ground parallel to the borewell from a distance of around 10-feet to rescue the woman.
