Elderly women raped at her house in Rourkela, accused held

Rourkela: A man allegedly raped a 60-year-old woman at her house in Brahmani Tarang area of Odisha’s Rourkela city.

The accused, identified as Sudan Gop (38) of Beladihi, has been arrested by the Brahmani Tarang police.

According to reports, the victim, a daily wager, resides in a rented house in the area. At around 2.30 am on June 22, the accused entered the house while she was sleeping.

As she woke up hearing the sound of his movement, he tied her mouth with a piece of cloth and raped her. He also threatened the woman not to disclose the incident before anyone.

However, the victim was unaffected by the threat and lodged an FIR with the police, on the basis of which the accused was arrested.
