Bhubaneswar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has accepted BJD leader Dipali Das' request for EVM memory verification in Jharsuguda Assembly Constituency, where she had lost in the recently-concluded elections.
The commission has allowed verification for 13 polling stations in Jharsuguda.
"I am not dissatisfied with the results, but as a candidate, it is my right to request EVM verification due to suspected irregularities in some booths," Dipali said referencing a Supreme Court order for rechecking 5% of EVMs per assembly segment.
Dipali, daughter of former Odisha minister late Naba Das, lost to BJP's Tankadhar Tripathy by a margin of 1333 votes.
While Dipali got 89772 votes, Tankadhar received 91105 votes in his favour.
