Electrical Assistant engineer held for taking bribe in Odisha

Berhampur: An Assistant Engineer of Khallikote Electricity Division was arrested by Vigilance officials for demanding and accepting bribe from a lineman yesterday.

As per the complaint, the accused identified as Basant Patnaik had demanded Rs 20,000 from one Bibekananda Naik of Keshpur village to process his transfer application. With no option left, the lineman informed this to the anti-graft unit.

Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught Patnaik red-handed while he was accepting Rs 15,000 bribe money on  Khallikote-Keshpur national highway.
