Dhenkanal: The forest officials today rescued an elephant calf from a well near Jamujhara village under Kamakhyanagar range in Dhenkanal district.

The 2-year-old female elephant calf went into the forest after rescue.

According to reports, the elephant calf fell into well while roaming with a herd of elephants at Jamujhara village yesterday. Although, other elephants had tried to rescue it from well, they failed and left the place in the morning.

The locals spotted the elephant calf in the well after hearing the loud noise of the wild animal coming from the farmland. They informed the forest department about the elephant.

Acting on information, the forest officials reached the spot and rescued the elephant excavating the land through a JCB.
