Elephant dies after being hit by goods train in Odisha

A female elephant aged about four years was killed this evening after being hit by a goods train near Pattasahi railway station under K. Balang police limits in Odisha’s Sundergarh district.

According to reports, the pachyderm was killed after a few minutes of it being hit by a goods train which was on its way to Bondamunda from Bimalagarh. It was hit while it was crossing the track near Pattasahi railway station at around 7 PM.

After news broke out about the accident, officials of the railways and forest department and locals have rushed to the spot, reports added.
