Cuttack, Apr 22:

Panic gripped Gurudijhatia in Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district as a herd of 18 wild elephants stormed into the premises of Sri Sri Dhabaleswar (SSD) College by breaking its boundary wall late last night.

On being informed by locals, Forest officials reached the spot and managed to drive the animals away from the college campus.

However, trouble mounted further for the officials as the jumbos headed towards NH-55 near Balisuniamuha and stood on the road for hours disrupting vehicular movement, sources said.

The pachyderms later left the NH but Forest officials, as per latest reports, were present at the spot as the elephants were seen roaming near the road.
