Elephant menace: Man trampled to death inside house in Keonjhar  

Keonjhar: A 50-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant at Daanla village under Bansapala block in Keonjhar district in wee hours today.

The deceased has been identified as Tupuli Munda.

Sources said the elephant strayed into the village and entered Munda’s house in the wee hours today. When the pachyderm started devouring crops kept inside the house, Munda tried to drive away the animal. Later, the elephant attacked the elderly man and trampled him to death.

Meanwhile, irate locals have alleged that though they have appraised forest officials about the frequent elephant menace in the region, the latter have not taken any proactive measures in this direction.
