Elephant strays into Odisha’s Cuttack city

Cuttack: Panic gripped denizens of Odisha’s Cuttack city after a tusker was spotted roaming in CDA Sector-8 and CDA Sector-9 areas here today.

Locals initially saw the pachyderm in the areas last night. The animal later hid at a cashew orchard, they said.

On being informed, Forest Department officials and police reached the spot and initiated efforts to chase away the elephant.

It is suspected that the jumbo might have strayed into the city from the Athagarh Forest Range area.
