Bargarh: In a tragic incident, an elephant reportedly trampled three members of a family to death at Saldihi village under Paikamal Forest Range in Odisha's Bargarh district, last night.
The deceased were identified as Paan Bariha (28), her daughter Sunanda Bariha (11), and her son Aditya Bariha (3).
According to reports, the pachyderm attacked the three when they were sleeping at the backyard of their house.
The elephant had strayed into the village after being separated from its herd.
While the woman and her two children were crushed to death by the animal, her husband Bipin had a narrow escape.
On being informed, Forest officials visited the village and started investigation.
