Bhubaneswar: The prevailing hot and humid weather condition in Odisha is not only troubling the human beings but also causing inconvenience for the wild animals.
A herd of elephants were seen cooling themselves off in a large pond in a forest in Cuttack district recently.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Susanta Nanda uploaded a video in this regard on his Twitter (X) handle. Soon, many wildlife enthusiasts shared the video on their social media accounts.
“Because of the small amount of skin coverage relative to their body size, the elephants get overheated as the internal heat generated is not able to dissipate. More so in hot summer…And that’s why they use the water bodies for cooling. Video from the forests of Cuttack district,” said the PCCF (Wildlife) in his Twitter (X) post.
