Emergency call boxes installed on NH-16 between Baramunda and Chandikhole in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has installed emergency call boxes on NH-16 between Baramunda and Chandikhole in Odisha to address road accidents and other emergencies.

Positioned on poles, these boxes are linked to the nearest police station, fire station, and ambulance services. Assistance will reach the location upon receiving an SOS call.

The boxes have been strategically placed at two-kilometer gaps. Equipped with GPS technology, these boxes operate through a voice communication system. In case of an emergency, individuals can approach the box, press the call button, and connect with an operator who will dispatch the response team immediately.

These solar-powered boxes, capable of withstanding diverse weather conditions, have been installed on both sides of the highway.

The concerned agency has installed 34 such boxes, enhancing the safety and rapid response along the stretch of NH-16.
