Bhubaneswar: Eminent Odia vocalist Shantilata Barik has been admitted to a private hospital in the Odisha capital here in a critical condition.

Barik, who lent her voice to several popular Odia devotional songs, has been put on ventilator support, sources said.

“The eminent singer has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for last one week. She has been put on the ventilator. However, her condition is improving slowly,” said a member of Shantilata Cultural Trust today.

The trust, meanwhile, urged people not to believe in any rumour and fake news regarding the health condition of the eminent singer.
