Noted singer from Odisha-- Bhubaneswari Mishra-- passed away at her New Delhi residence this morning. She was 67.

Mishra breathed her last this morning at the national capital following a cardiac arrest.

She was doing well and absolutely fine. The end came all of a sudden and we are all shocked to know about it, family sources said.

She was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by two sons and a daughter.

“I had a long association with her. She was like my elder sister. She was a versatile singer and has sung in various genres. I am deeply saddened by her demise. Her works will always remain in our hearts,” singer Sangeeta Gosain said.

The accredited classical singer began her singing career with Tiki Mora Naa for the mythological movie Krushna Sudama.

Besides being bestowed with many prestigious awards, she had won Odisha State Film Award for Best Singer (Female) for two consecutive years in 1979 and 1980 for the movies Srikrushna Rasalila and Jay Ma Mangala respectively.

Her famous renditions include: Itikili Mitikili (Sakhi Gopinath), Tiki Mora Naa (Krushna Sudama), Jahna Ra Sindura Gaara (Belabhumi), Tume Mora Prabhu (Sagar), Asa Asa Sathi Asa (Sagar), Pirrati Kiye Karichi (Swarna Sita), Jagatara Natha Jagannatha (Chinha Achinha) and Dayamayee Mahamayee Maa Mangala (Maa Mangala) among others.

Members of the music fraternity mourned the death of Mishra.
