Bibhu Jena, a dreaded criminal, who was injured in a police encounter in the Odisha capital in the late night on March 7, had wanted to be a don.

Twin City commissionerate police have revealed the modus operandi of Bibhu and his gang.
The 22-year-old youth, who began his criminal activity only one and half years back, was in the most wanted list of the commissionerate police, Ganjam and Khurda Police. HeĀ is involved in more than 15 cases of loot, attempt to murder and murder, commissionerate police sources said.
Apart from Bhubaneswar, Bibhu and his gang were active in Ganjam, Khallikote, Banpur and Jharsuguda areas and had even committed some crimes in Jamshedpur in neighbouring Jharkhand.
Bibhu joined the gang of Sauri at the age of 20 and started to control the gang only a year later after attacking his former boss twice due to some dispute over the share of booty.
Later, he became the boss of the gang after Sauri fled to Bangalore as the police were after him.
According to police, Bibhu had a passion for guns as he used to carry his revolver and spare bullets with him and fired shots at times for no apparent reason.
In the murder of Aditya Nayak, a liquor shop salesman in Sriram Nagar area under Langaraj Police limits of Bhubaneswar, his two associates Arjun and Chandan attacked Aditya with a bhujali (a sharp weapon) while Bibhu shot him dead, police said.
Besides, in the Dumuduma jewellery shop loot incident, Bibhu had fired 5-6 rounds at the shop owner Raghunath Sahu and his grandson Chunu.
The history-sheeter, who is now undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, has also confessed to his involvement in the loot of Rs 65 lakh from Mancheswar area and Rs 18 lakh from Infocity area of the capital city.
