Enraged over objection by beloved’s family, youth kills girl in Odisha

Nabarangpur:  In heart-wrenching incident, a 27-year-old youth allegedly strangulated her beloved to death in Tentulikhunta police station area of Nabarangpur district yesterday following repeated objection by the latter’s family.

As per sources the  accused youth identified as Bhisma Harijan had love affair with  the daughter of one Surya Ganda for the last five years. He had also promised to marry the girl, who was in Plus III Third Year and also worked as a daily labourer to support her family.  However, her family opposed their relationship and had reprimanded the youth many a times.

The girl’s mother claimed that Bhisma had called up her daughter yesterday and asked her to meet him. Last evening, when the mother, who also works  as a daily labourer, returned to the house, she did not find her in the house.  After searching for her for a while, the family found her inside a school building at Anchalagumma village in unconscious state. The girl had fingernail marks on her neck. The family immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

Later, the mother lodged a written complaint against the youth with Tentulikhunta  police, following which the cops detained him and began investigation. The body of the deceased was later sent to district headquarters hospital (DHH)  for post-mortem.

” A murder case has been registered in this connection and investigation is underway,” said Tentulikhunta police station IIC Paramananda Sunani.
