Ensure enough ICU beds for critical patients in Twin City: Odisha CM to officials

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed officials to ensure availability of more ICU beds for critical patients in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. While reviewing the COVID management through video conference, the Chief Minister also asked the officials to deploy more number of ambulances in the twin city while emphasising on strengthening the health infrastructure in view of rising number of positive cases in Khordha and Cuttack districts.

He expected the situation will improve in the twin city in next week.

The Chief Minister raised concerns over violation of COVID-19 guidelines by makeshift shop owners and petty shops. He directed police, civic official and Health department to work in tandem to ensure people adhere to the COVID guidelines.

Taking note of improvement in the situation in Berhampur, he directed the civic administration in the twin city and Collectors of Jajpur, Bargarh, Khordha and Cuttack districts to adopt the model followed by the city in Ganjam district.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy took part in the discussion and said more doctors and administrative officials will be sent to hotspot districts to help in COVID management.

Among others, the Additional Chief Secretary of Health department, 5T Secretary, DGP and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
