Entry of 3 devotees from outside Odisha into Puri Gundicha temple raises eyebrows [Watch]

Puri: Despite ban on entry of public into temples across the state due to COVID-19 pandemic, a video showing three devotees from outside the state entering Gundicha temple (aunt’s house of Lord Jagannath) here today raised question about the security measures.

The video shows three devotees, including a woman and another in police uniform entering the shrine through Singhadwara (main entrance).

Shockingly, few local cops are seen facilitating the devotees in their visit to the temple. After coming out of Gundicha temple, the devotees boarded the police vehicle bearing registration number OD02AS 3536.

The one in police uniform has been identified as Kulamani Panda. However, when asked, he refused to have entered the temple.

Worth mentioning, entry of devotees into all religious institutions across the state has been restricted since late April due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The recently-concluded Ratha Jatra of Lord Jagannath was held without public participation due to the pandemic, like last year.
