EOW arrests Odisha InfraTech’s Director for fraudulent land transactions

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch today arrested Manoranjan Sarangi, one of the directors of Odisha InfraTech Pvt Ltd for alleged involvement in purchasing land belonging to some scheduled caste persons of Sarua village in Khordha district in fraudulent manner. He has been forwarded to the court.

As per a statement issued by the EOW, Odisha InfraTech Pvt Ltd purchased land belonging to some scheduled caste persons from Sarua village under Begunia tehsil of Khordha district while circumventing rules/laws, using forgery/cheating/intimidation and other dubious methods with an intention to cause losses to SC people.

Earlier, some scheduled caste persons of Sarua village and one ex-employee of Ortel communication belonging to scheduled caste levelled allegations of fraudulent land transactions. Following this, the Odisha government ordered an enquiry by Crime Branch. During the course of enquiry, prima facie it was revealed that Odisha InfraTech Pvt Ltd purchased land is involved in the fraudulent land transactions, the EOW statement added.

Basing on the enquiry report a criminal case vide EOW case no 08/2020 u/s 420/423/467/468/471/120-B IPC read with sections 3 (1) (g) (q) of SC & ST (POA) act was registered.

It is worth to be mentioned that Sarangi also works as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the OTV Network Ltd. He was reportedly picked up by sleuths in the wee hours today for questioning.
