EOW moves Odisha govt for attachment of Siridi Sai assets

The Economic Offences Wing of the Odisha Crime Branch (CB) today submitted a proposal to the Finance Department of the Government of Odisha  for issuance of an ad-interim attachment order for assets of M/s Siridi Sai Estate Pvt Limited, a chit fund company, and properties seized from company directors and others.

The attachment will be done under sections 3 of Odisha Protection of Interest of Depositors (OPID) (In financial establishments) Act 2011, EOW sources said.

The proposal includes valuable homestead land of 1.0924 acres located in Mouza Kalarahanga and Baimunda under Bhubaneswar Tahasil worth approximately Rs 60 lakh, one Ford Endeavour vehicle bearing Reg. No.- OR02AM5757 worth Rs 16,29,437 and one Ford Fiesta car bearing Reg. No.- OR02AK5057 worth Rs 758500.

EOW had registered a case on April 12, 2013 acting on a complaint lodged by Laxman Kumar Panda of Janhia under Soro police station in Balasore district. Panda had alleged that Prakash Chandra Panda, managing director of the aforesaid chit fund company, had duped crores of rupees from the investors by floating various schemes promising high returns on the deposited money.

Later on February 15 last year, EOW had arrested Prakash from the Surya Nagar here and had slapped charges under sections 465, 467, 468, 471, 406, 420, 420 (B), 34 of IPC r/w sections 4, 5 and 6 of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 and section 6 of OPID ACT.

Panda is in judicial custody in Jharpada jail since then.
