EOW to probe fraud charges against Golden Baba

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today recommended the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch (CB) to investigate the allegations of financial fraud against Jyoti Ranjan Beura, popular as Golden Baba.

In a letter, the Twin City police asked the Crime Branch to probe the fraud allegations against Beura from various angles. The CB would investigate his criminal activities as well as political links.

The Chandraskeharpur police here had arrested Beura on December 31 on fraud charges following a complaint lodged by a resident of Barbil in Keonjhar district.

Sources said a total of 19 cases have been registered against him at various police stations, including four in Bhubaneswar. Beura used to attend various programmes of BJD in Bhubaneswar identifying himself as the party worker.
