Essel Mining wins top award for CSR project in Odisha

The Essel Mining & Industries Ltd.(EMIL) has bagged the first prize in the National CSR Case Contest “CSR Initiatives- a Key differentiation” organized by National HRD Network for its project in Joda in Odisha, a company release said today.

The coveted award was received on behalf of EMIL by Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee (Director General & CEO Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs) at the NHRDN 1st National Summit on CSR on 1st August 2014 in New Delhi. This contest had been conducted to encourage corporates to showcase their CSR and responsible business practices through a case study.

EMIL presented its case study titled “Promotion of Innovative Triple Layer Vegetable Cultivation for food sufficiency and income enhancement among tribal communities in Joda Block“ and won wide appreciation.

21 Companies presented their CSR case studies reflecting the innovative projects in their respective fields.

The event was attended by CEOs, senior executives from leading corporate houses, top bureaucrats and representatives from various national and international NGOs, academicians among others.

Among the corporate houses which participated in this competition included Schneider, Aircel, BPCL, GMR, Yes bank, BHEL, Kant, HCL, Moserbaer, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd and Rashtriya Chemical and Fertilizers Ltd.
