Ex Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren’s daughter to try her luck once again from Odisha’s Mayurbhanj LS seat

Bhubaneswar: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has fielded its founder Shibu Soren’s daughter Anjani Soren from Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat in Odisha for 2024 Parliamentary elections.

Anjani, the sister of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, will take on ruling BJD’s Sudam Marndi and BJP’s Naba Charan Majhi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Marndi was once associated with the JMM before shifting his allegiance towards the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The Congress party is yet to name its candidate for Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat.

Anjani had also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from Mayurbhanj on a JMM ticket. She had managed to get 1,35,552 votes and secured third position.

BJP’s Bisheswar Tudu had won the polls while the BJD candidate secured second position. The Congress party had not fielded its candidate from Mayurbhanj in 2019.

The BJP has dropped Tudu and picked Naba Charan Majhi as its candidate for 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

“The JMM has picked me to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Mayurbhanj in Odisha. The JMM is a constituent of the INDIA bloc. I hope that the Congress party will extend its support to me in the upcoming polls,” said Anjani.
