Executive Engineer in Odisha Vigilance net

Vigilance sleuths today conducted raids on residences of an Executive Engineer of Rural Works Division, Mohana on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The sleuths raided the houses of the Executive Engineer Sirish Chandra Sahoo at Ranihat and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) Sector-10. The raids were conducted after Rs 1.55 lakh cash was seized from his car at Bhejiput toll gate yesterday.

A 15-member team led by Paralakhemundi Vigilance DSP Surendranath Panigrahi conducted the raids here this morning.

According to sources, the anti-corruption wing officials have detected jewellery, property documents at Ranihat house. The market value of the CDA house has been estimated at nearly Rs 1 crore.

However, Sirish has denied the allegation of accumulating ill-gotten money and has claimed that he had availed a loan which he was carrying in his car. Further, he said that he has documents substantiating his claims.

“On a specific input, we had followed Sirish’s vehicle. He had received the money from a contractor. We intercepted him near Bhejiput toll gate where he could not explain the source of money. We have found jewellery and life insurance products from his ancestral house at Ranihat where currently no one is staying. Later, his official residence at Mohana will be raided,” Paralakhemundi Vigilance DSP Surendranath Panigrahi said.
