Exemplary: Odisha MLA harvests crop at farmland

Nabarangpur: In an exemplary act inspiring others to take up agriculture, Umerkote MLA Nityanand Gond was seen reaping paddy at his farmland in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.

The legislator has resorted to harvesting along with his wife and local farmers at his paddy field these days. Gond’s wife Chaiti, who is a teacher by profession, has been assisting him in the agricultural activity.

Being born in a farmer family, Gond often devotes significant amount of time towards farming despite his busy schedule as an MLA.

“I always consider myself as a farmer in terms of my primary identity. Whenever I find spare time, I engage myself in agriculture. Earlier, I was able to give more time to farming. However, after being elected as an MLA, my responsibilities have increased and currently I can’t devote that much of time for farming,” Gond said.

He also advised youth to take up agriculture and contribute towards nation’s progress.
