Exodus from Cong continues; Rama Ulaka’s son quits party

Odisha Sun Times Bureau

Rayagada, Mar 1:
Even as speculation is rife on Leader of Opposition in the Odisha Assembly Bhupinder Singh, who has remained incommunicado since Thursday, quitting Congress and joining BJD, the principal opposition party in the state faced another setback when Shibasankar Ulaka, son of former minister and veteran Congress leader Ram Chandra Ulaka, resigned from the party.
In his resignation letter sent to the PCC president Jayadev Jena, Ulaka has said he was resigning after being consistently sidelined in the party.
A few weeks earlier, the district president of the Congress party in Nayagarh Kumar Hemendra Singh had quit the party and joined the BJD. Senior Congress leader Ramkrushna Patnaik and his wife Kumudini Patnaik, former MP, too have quit the party
With long time Congress leaders quitting the party one after another, PCC president Jena can hardly take any comfort from his ‘achievement’  of roping in two leading Ollywood stars – Bijay Mohanty and Aparajita Mohanty –  into the party fold.
