Extortionist dials from inside Odisha jail; 4 arrested

Cuttack: Raising question on the security system at Choudwar Jail here, one more criminal has been found to be operating his activities from the jail. The incident came to fore after the Chauliaganj Police arrested four persons, including parents of criminal Litua, who is currently lodged at Choudwar Jail, on extortion charges today.

The four were arrested for demanding Rs 50 lakh as extortion from a businessman here.

Sources said Litua, an associate of gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamant, had allegedly called up the businessman from the Jail and asked him to give Rs 50 lakh extortion.

Earlier in the first week of January, the Daragha Bazaar Police had arrested two girlfriends of dreaded gangster Mohammad Shakeel for demanding Rs 10 lakh extortion money from a businessman. On December 14, Shakeel had called up the businessman and demanded Rs 10 lakh.
