Fake certificate: 11 DEOs not furnishing info on school teachers in service in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The education officers (DEOs) of 11 districts have not been furnishing information on school teachers who are in service by submitting fake certificates. Hence, the Director of Elementary Education department earlier asked them to comply with data on fake certificate cases.

Writing in this regard, the department had insisted that the DEOs must reply by today (January 30).

DEOs of the districts include Balasore, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Deogarh, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, and Sambalpur. They were requested to personally look into the matter and asked to submit the requisite data within a stipulated period of three days.

The directorate had also written vide its letter No-27080, dated 29.12.2023. Due to incomplete data, the compliance affidavit in WPC No-18752/ 2018 (PIL filed by one Sanjaya Kumar Moharana) could not be filed till now, the official communiqué said.

It is pertinent to mention, following a detailed inquiry, separate FIRs were lodged on January 11 against four school teachers by Kashipur block education officer (BEO) for allegedly submitting fake certificates to get the government service. The teachers are presently working in Kashipur block in Rayagada district.

Cracking a whip against the fraudulent activities in the education sector, on August 18, 2023, the district administration of Bolangir dismissed from service four government teachers who had reportedly clinched the jobs by furnishing fake educational certificates.
