Fake certificate: FIRs lodged against four school teachers by BEO in Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: Following a detailed inquiry, separate FIRs were lodged today against four school teachers by Kashipur block education officer (BEO) for allegedly submitting fake certificates to get the government service. The teachers are presently working in Kashipur block in Rayagada district.

According to an official source, the teachers were recruited in 2012 and 2018. The four were identified as Raghunath Mohapatra, Raghunath Bidika, Panjim Majhi, and Sambhu Kar. Acting on a directive of the district education officer (DEO) Purna Chandra Bariha and based on the recent official inquiry, the BEO Diptimayee Singh lodged the FIRs at Kashipur, Doraguda and Tikiri police stations.

More than 25 teachers presently working in different schools in Kashipur block of the district have submitted fake certificates and are in government service, a private source informed.

It is pertinent to mention, cracking whip against the fraudulent activities in the education sector, on August 18, 2023, the district administration of Bolangir dismissed from service four government teachers who had reportedly clinched the jobs by furnishing fake educational certificates.
