Rourkela: A man working as a doctor at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) by allegedly submitting forged documents was arrested on Wednesday. The fake doctor was identified as Padmanabhan Mukhi (53) of Jharkhand.
As per reports, he had secured the job by submitting forged documents of doctor Ramesh Chandra Jha of Jharkhand. The offence came to fore after Padmanabhan received a personal loan of Rs 16.50 lakh from a finance company. The accused had submitted the loan-related documents, including PAN card, belonging to Jha after replacing the latter's photos in them with his.
While verifying the documents, an employee of the company came to know that Padmanabhan's mobile phone number and the contact number registered with the PAN card were different.
Suspecting foul play, the employee dialed the number as Jha picked up the call. As the forgery came to light, the employee filed a complaint in this regard with the Raghunathpalli police.
On the basis of the complaint, police launched an investigation and interrogated the accused at the police station, during which he confessed to the crime.
After being arrested, Padmanabhan was forwarded to court. He was employed at the RGH through an outsourcing company namely Rahi Care Private Limited and had been working in the dialysis department of the hospital for seven months.
On the other hand, the RGH authorities have issued a show cause notice to the outsourcing company in this connection.
Mukhi was previously arrested in 2019 for treating patients in the Nua Gaon block using fake certificates.
