Fake email in name of Odisha Higher Education Dept; lecturer arrested

Sambalpur: A lecturer of Dr Jhasketan Sahu College, Parmanpur, which is affiliated to Sambalpur University here, has been arrested for sending an email to the college Principal from a fake ID of Odisha Higher Education Department.

The Sambalpur Cyber police today arrested accused Paresh Bhoi, an Economics lecturer, and produced him before court for the offence.

Few days ago, the accused sent a mail to the College Principal Sandhyarani Mishra from the fake ID mentioning corruption in clerk appointment asking the former as to why action will not be taken against the irregularity. When the Principal directly contacted the Higher Education Department, she got to know about the fake email.

Soon after, she lodged an FIR at Cyber police station here in this connection. The cops initiated an inquiry and arrested the accused lecturer.

Police said the accused had learnt how to create fake email ID and deactivate the same to eliminate evidence by watching YouTube videos.
