Puri: Police detained a fake jawan from the parade venue during the Independence Day celebration in Puri district today.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar of Kumbharpada area in Puri district.

The youth allegedly had entered Talabania Indoor Stadium - the venue for the Independence Day celebration - in an Army uniform in the morning. Posing as the jawan, he was seen with an NCC official inside a tent reserved for media persons during the event.

However, the police identified the jawan as fake. He was immediately detained for questioning.
