Fake notes worth Rs 17K seized; 2 arrested

Kalahandi: Busting a fake currency note racket, the Dharmagarh police of Kalahandi district arrested two persons in this connection and seized counterfeit notes worth Rs 17,000 from their possession.

The two arrested identified as Rajendra Bhoi and Kulmani Naik were later produced before court today.

Sources said Rajendra, a resident of Kuturu village, had purchased goats one Dhaniram Nayak of Tipiguda village on September 12 by paying Rs 17,000 (34 currency notes of 500 denomination).  After finding the notes fake, Dhaniram had later lodged a compliant at Dharmagarh police station.

The police detained Rajendra, who during interrogation confessed that he had brought the fake notes from Kulamani of Gadiajor village. Later, the cops arrested both Rajendra and Kulamani after registering a case.

Further investigation into the incident is on, police said.
