Fake Odisha doctor dupes man of Rs 18 lakh on pretext of getting MBBS seat for son at AIIMS

Bhubaneswar: It seems every passing day fresh allegations against fake doctor Ramesh Swain have been coming to fore. A resident from Biridhua in Jagatsinghpur district, Abhaya Kumar Das today lodged a complaint against Swain at the Khandagiri Police Station in Bhubaneswar.

In his complaint, Das alleged Swain duped him of Rs 18 lakh on the pretext of arranging an MBBS seat for his son, Biswanath Das.

Along with his complaint Abhaya Kumar Das also provided money receipts and an offer letter given to him by fake doctor Ramesh Swain to the police.

In the offer letter given by Swain, it has been mentioned that Abhaya Kumar Das’ son Biswanath Das has been selected to take admission fro MBBS course at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.

The complainant also stated Swain’s brother-in-law, Ganeshwara Behera persuaded him to give the money to the fake doctor.

Swain had identified himself as the Director General of Central Health and Higher Education under the Ministry of Health.

Following his arrest by the Commissionerate Police on charges of defrauding 21 women after marrying them, Swain has been on a five-day police remand.

Yesterday some residents of Kamakhyanagar area in Dhenkanal district alleged Swain had administered wrong treatment on several patients resulting in their deaths. He had been running a clinic at Kamakhyanagar from 1990 to 2010.

Swain, who had failed the Matriculation exam, was posing himself as a Doctor and cheated 21 women from different states after marrying them on different occasions.
