Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police today arrested a fake police official in Bhubaneswar.

The accused has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Bhuyan. He is accused of beating up a youth by posing a police official.

The imposter was arrested following a written complaint made by the victim Ranjan Jena at the Airfield Police Station in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, Ranjan's younger brother had borrowed some amount that he did not repay later. To threaten him, Bhuyan posing as a police officer called the youth to a rented house at Botanda area located on outskirts of Bhubaneswar city and assaulted him physically in presence of his four associates.

Sources said that the police uniform was made for a drama in web series.

The accused was arrested for an offence of misusing the police dress. Others who are accused in the case will also be apprehended soon, informed Bhubaneswar Sub Division II ACP Girija Shankar Chakrabarty.
