Family of Odisha cops who died of COVID-19 to get full salary till retirement

Bhubaneswar: Family of police personnel who died due to COVID-19 in Odisha will get full salary till their retirement.

DGP Abhay informed this at a video conferencing held with all district SPs, Range DIGs and IGs and DCPs yesterday.  Besides, compensation will be provided to family of the deceased cops as per the Government’s previous announcement.

So far, 20 police staff have died  due to the virus in the state.

Reviewing the critical COVID situation prevailing in the state, the DGP discussed on stricter enforcement of the regulations. Besides, he reviewed welfare measures for police, including payment of ex-gratia and full salary to Corona Warriors, who laid their lives in the battle against the virus.

Taking cognizance of the rampant ganja smuggling in the state, the DGP asked all district police to intensify operation against  cannabis cultivation and smuggling.

The other agendas of discussion were promotion of Constables, capacity building for cyber crimes, temporary Beat House and Outposts,prompt response from districts in High Court matters, rationalising use of OSAP and pending NHRC matters.
