Fan Village to be set up in Kalinga Stadium during Hockey WC

Bhubaneswar: Good news for hockey fans! A fan village will be set up inside Kalinga Stadium in Odisha capital where the Men’s Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held between November 28 and December 16 this year.

A decision in this regard was taken today, informed City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty.

The Fan Village would be set up in the vacant places on the two sides of gate no-3 of the stadium. Hockey fans and spectators can go to the fan village and take selfies and interact with their favourite players.

“Players who are in the practice court will also come to the Fan Zone and meet their fans. This is the first time that we are introducing such a system,” Mohanty said.

The Fan Village will have host of fun-filled activities like live music show and food court to keep the audience engaged.

Only those have tickets or passes will be allowed to go into the Fan Village, the top cop added.

Total 16 teams are participating in the event that will witness 36 matches. Each of the participating teams will play three matches during the league stage over a span of 12 days before four cross-over matches that will decide the fate of the teams to book their place in the top eight stage.

A grand opening ceremony is being planned to be held on November 27 to showcase the State’s culture and heritage to the whole world.
