Farmers to submit Memo to PM Modi during Odisha visit

Bhubaneswar: The farmers will submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Odisha scheduled on December 24.

The memorandum will be submitted to PM Modi on December 24 demanding price, prestige and pension for farmers, informed the Navnirman Krishak Sangathan (NKS) convener Akshaya Kumar here today.

The farmers will also stage a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan on January 8 in Bhubaneswar to press their demands, he said.

Recently on Dec 14, the farmers under the aegis of NKS had marched from Raghunathpur area in Bhubaneswar to Raj Bhawan to submit a memorandum to the Governor Ganeshi Lal over several demands.

They threatened to intensify their agitation from February 1 if the State government fails to meet their demands ‘price, prestige and pension’ before the deadline January 31.
