Boudh: In a major crackdown, forest sleuths nabbed five persons including a father-daughter duo on charges of poaching in Boudh district of Odisha on Tuesday.
Two of the accused were identified as Uttam Pradhan and his daughter Sabitri Majhi of Padmatola village which comes under Sripaju section of Kusanga forest range.
As per reports, forest personnel of Kusanga wildlife division got a tip-off about poaching activities in the region and raided two places in the wee hours on Tuesday. During the search operation, they found incriminating materials and wildlife items from the house of Uttam and Sabitri and arrested the duo after they could not account for the possessions satisfactorily. Scales of Indian pangolin, two country guns, toxic explosives, hooks and otherĀ items were seized from them.
Meanwhile, basing on specific intelligence, Kusanga forest personnel also apprehended three other poachers and caught them red-handed in Chamundia range of Nayagarh district. They will be produced in court, official sources informed.
