Father-son duo arrested for land fraud in Odisha capital

A father-son duo was arrested today in Odisha capital for fraudulently selling of a piece of land belonging to one of their relatives.

The duo has been identified as Mathuram Jena (70) and his son Sandip Kumar Jena (28) from Gada Sahi under Nayapalli police station limits here.

Complainant Subarna Jena from Nayapalli area alleged that the father-son duo in connivance with one Ganesh Prasad Dey forged a piece of land belonging to her late husband Gagan Jena who passed away in 1987.

Complainant found Ganesh Prasad Dey constructing boundary wall around the land under Madhusudan Nagar area in 2013. When she objected to the construction, Ganesh told her that he had purchased the piece of land measuring 20 decimal from Gagan Jena in 2008.

The complainant became sure that the land documents were forged as her husband is no more.

The woman filed a complaint with Badagada police station following which a case (85/14) was registered under section 420, 467, 468, 471, 404 and 34 of IPC.

During investigation, it was found that Mathuram Mathuram Jena cousin brother of late Gagan Jena and his son Sandip Kumar Jena in connivance with Ganesh Prasad Dey prepared the forged sale deed by identifying another person as Gagan Jena. Ganesh Prasad Dey  benefited by purchasing a land worth Rs 15 to 20 lakh by giving only Rs 6 lakh to Mathuram Jena and his son, police sources said.

They were arrested today and forwarded to court here later in the day.
