Female elephant found dead in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Carcass of a female elephant was found at a canal near Kalingapadar under Tarasingh Range in Odisha’s Ganjam district, today.

Locals spotted the carcass this morning and informed the Forest Department officials, who reached the spot and started investigation.

The pachyderm’s body bore injury marks. Though the reason behind the death of the animal is yet to be ascertained, officials suspect that the elephant died after sustaining grievious injuries during a fight with a tusker.
