Sundargarh: Police have recovered a blood-smeared body of a woman from a field Lefripara block of Odisha's Sundargarh district here today. The deceased was identified as Snigdha Pradhan, daughter of one Bhagua Pradhan from Tiklipada village in Hemgir block of the district. Investigation revealed that she was working as a postmaster in Telendihi.

It is suspected that she was murdered as her body had multiple injuries indicating that she had been brutally attacked.

As per the family, Snigdha went missing after she had an argument with a male friend on Monday evening. As se did not come home, her parents filed a missing complaint with Lefripara police. The following day, her mangled body was found in a field in Kurumkel Belsariapada. Police on getting information reached the spot and started investigation. Official sources said while the exact reason of the death has not yet been ascertained, it appears that the woman was first stabbed and then stoned to death before her body was disposed of in the nearby field.

A case has been registered and probe is underway, they added.
