Festive fever grips devotees across Odisha on Vijaya Dashami

Bhubaneswar: Dussehra also known as Vijaya Dashami, which marks the end of Durga Puja is being celebrated across the State with much fervour today.

Devotees were seen thronging several Puja Pandals since morning to offer prayer to Goddess Durga. On the occasion, various rituals, including Aprajita Puja are being performed at Pandals and Peethas to mark the triumph of Good over Evil. People were also seen worshiping vehicles, machines and instruments on the day.

Besides, Ravana Podi, which symbolizes goddess Durga’s victory over demon king Mahishasura, will be performed in the evening today. In Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, special arrangements have been made by Puja committees to hold Ravana Podi rituals in grand way. Towering effigies of Ravana will be burnt with firecrackers at Rupali, Patia, Nayapalli, Baramunda in Bhubaneswar and at Balijatra Ground in Cuttack.

Meanwhile, huge number of devotees flocked to Puri to witness ‘Suna Besha’ of Lord Jagannath and his divine siblings today.
