FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar organises webinars on career prospects post COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: The global COVID-19 pandemic has had a deep impact on the economy and has left the education & skill development sector in disarray. Students and parents are confused as to how to navigate months of lockdown and risk losing a whole year waiting for normalcy to return.

FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar chapter has partnered with Gram Tarang to run a series of Webinars focusing on Career Counseling on Career Prospects & Opportunities post COVID-19. The interactive sessions are activity based with industry experts involved.  The target audience are 10th and 12th pass students & parents.

The first of the series was conducted today online on Healthcare with more than 1200 logging in to view it on YouTube. The webinar had an interesting talk session by GTET with icebreakers and visuals about various job roles in the healthcare sector.

Dharitri Patnaik, Chairperson, FLO Bhubaneswar requested the students to explore many fields available for skill development and training and learn different perspectives on the available career options post Covid-19.

Industry expert, Simrit Sandhu, Chief Supply Chain & Support Services Officer, Cleveland Clinic, USA, the guest speaker for the day, gave an insightful input on healthcare sector. Sandhu emphasized on how the job roles in hospitals were not limited to doctors and nurses, but that our knowledge needed to be expanded.

Sandhu advised the students to select an area, which has job security and also gives them job satisfaction. She asked them to research on which skill set is in shortage and to train in that field.

She spoke about Women Empowerment and how we need to educate girls and bring them forward for the growth of the society.

“This was an outstanding learning webinar for students like me who are not sure what to do and pursue. It was completely out of the box concept of career counseling. Instead of dreading it, we enjoyed it,” said Akankshya Mishra a Standard-12 student.

The next FLO Learning series is on E-commerce on June 22 at 11 AM on YouTube and Facebook channel of GTET.
