Fine of Rs 54 Lakh imposed on Jeypore RCMS for irregularities in Odisha’s Koraput

Jeypore: The Income Tax department has imposed a fine of Rs 54 lakh for alleged irregularities in the Regional Cooperative Marketing Society (RCMS) at Jeypore town in Koraput. This came to the fore today during a thorough verification of the official documents by the deputy registrar of cooperative societies (DRCS).

According to a source, Income Tax returns of the RCMS have not been filed and official accounts have not been audited for the last three years. Acting on allegations made earlier, the Jeypore DRCS Bhimsen Sahu carried out a probe and separately questioned the president and secretary of the cooperative society in this regard.

The RCMS president was identified as Sukanta Tripathy and the secretary as Pramod Rout.
