Finish pre-board exam in March by adopting BSE pattern: Odisha Minister to DEOs

Puri: School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash today instructed all district education officers (DEOs) to finish the pre-board examination in March by adopting the examination pattern prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha.

“All the DEOs are instructed to conduct the Matric Test exam based on the BSE pattern by March end so that the students will be familiar with the examination pattern and they will not face any issue while appearing in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examination,” Dash told news reporters after making a surprise visit to a state-run school in Puri district.

Earlier in the morning, Dash had visited the Puri Zilla School for inspection. He directed Puri DEO to serve a showcause notice to Headmistress of the school, who was absent during his visit, for not conducting the Matric Test examination in BSE-prescribed format in the school.

He also asked the DEO to layoff one-day salary of teachers, who remain absent in school without prior notice to the school authority.

Last month, the BSE Odisha had released HSC Exam Pattern for the year 2021 on its official website. As per the BSE exam pattern, there will be two separate question papers in subjects include — General Science, Social Science — based on old and new courses for HSC candidates. While the question papers based on old course will be meant for the ex-regular candidates, the new course question will be for regular candidates.

The questions in other subjects for annual HSC and SOSC Examination, 2021 will be the same for all students category. The question papers in all subjects for Madhyama Examination, 2021 will be the same for different category of students.

As per the revised exam pattern, the students will have to answer questions for 80 marks instead of 100 marks. However, the overall evaluation in each paper will be for 100 marks. The remaining 20 marks will be evaluated on the basis of the percentage secured by an examinee from the given 80 marks in a particular paper.
